REMOTO WEEKLY: Scootering Made It to X Games — Now It's Time to Prove It Belongs

What's up, crew:

This week brings news that changes freestyle scootering's place in action sports: for the first time, Scooter Park Best Trick was part of X Games.

Scootering has reached X Games

Eight riders went to New Orleans for a best trick contest, with one question hanging over the event: does scootering have the level and the audience to stay?

The answer was clear. Jack Ward took first place, and the fans' reaction was strongly in favor of scootering. That doesn't guarantee a permanent place, but it shows what many of us have said for years: the technical level is there. It needed a major platform to show it properly.

Honestly, best trick is the perfect entry format. You don't need to know every trick name to understand when someone attempts something huge and lands it clean.

Next up: San Diego Challenger

From August 13–16, San Diego hosts the Scootering Challenger USA 2026. Part of the World Skate circuit, it offers a chance to gain experience and points in the international ranking.

This is where a rider who has tricks starts to separate from one who knows how to compete. A run needs more than the hardest trick: complete lines, clean landings, speed and time management.

What about Mexico?

The World Skate Games take place in Asunción, Paraguay, October 2–18, with scootering on the program. Registration is open through national federations.

This should be a wake-up call for Mexican riders. We have talent, street experience and riders with international-level tricks. We need to compete more, document our level better and keep building a real path to these events.

Getting the trip is only part of it. We need to arrive prepared to represent Mexico well.

Watch this before your next session

Find the full X Games Scooter Park Best Trick contest. Watch more than the winning trick: look at the speed, the approach to the quarter and how riders control the scooter before releasing it.

Sometimes progression means doing what you already know better, rather than learning another whip.
