Choosing Parts for a Street Scooter
Choosing Parts for a Street Scooter
Street scooter parts face impacts, grinds, drops, gaps, manuals and long sessions at real spots. Prioritize strength, compatibility and a solid feel.
Deck
Many street riders prefer wider, stable decks for grinds, manuals and landings. They can feel heavier while offering control. Check width, length, dropout type, fender/deckend compatibility and maximum wheel size.
Wheels
Street wheels must handle impacts and rough surfaces. Confirm 24 mm or 30 mm width and whether your setup accepts 110, 115 or 120 mm diameter. Incorrect sizes can rub the fork or deck.
SCS and compression
SCS is common in street for its strong hold and solid feel. Confirm compatibility with your bar, fork and bar diameter. A slitted bar is not automatically ready for SCS.
Bars
4130 chromoly bars are common for their strength and feel. Size should suit the rider; a very high bar can feel lighter, while a low bar can feel heavier.
Fork
Confirm compression, axle and wheel size compatibility, including 8 mm or 12 STD.
Fender, deckends and hardware
A compatible fender prevents noise and rubbing. Deckends protect the deck's rear. Correct hardware helps prevent play and failures during a session.
